Personal exhibition of Gia Tskhadaia – an iconographer and architect, will open at the State Folklore centre on 2 October; about 100 unique examples of icons and graphical works will be exhibited at the gallery.
Gia Tskhadaia was an alumnus of the Department of Art and Theology of Tbilisi Theological Academy; over the years he was an artist at “Pegasi” Publishing; the churches of Dormition of the Mother of God and St. George were constructed with his design in Tabakhmela and Sagarejo. Foundation was laid to a cross-domed church of Transfiguration in the historical part of Tbilisi (co-designed with L. Loladze).
Gia Tskhadaia participated in a number of personal and group exhibitions; his works were exhibited in: Tbilisi, Milan, Brussels, Paris and cities in Holland. His icons are at various churches throughout Georgia, and graphical works are in many private collections (Belgium, France, Russia, Lithuania, Italy, the Netherlands, UK). Gia Tskahdaia passed away in 2011 at the age of 51.
