Meeting with writer and critic Gia Arganashvili

On 2 April meeting with Gia Arganashvili – a writer and critic was held at the State Folklore Centre. The guest talked about “Folklore and Individual Creative work”.

Gia Arganashvili is a scriptwriter by profession. He actively and fruitfully works in the spheres of literature, cinema, theatre and education; he has many times been literary and cinema prize-winner, has published prosaic works “Sheavset sitsariele” (“Fill the emptiness”); a collection of critical letters, essays, documentary prose – “No One Has Walked around Mtatsminda vainly”.
A full-length film “Iakob Gogebashvili’s Life and Work”, several short feature and television films, and a television program have been shot on his scripts. His prosaic works, critical letters are often published in literary periodicals: “Literaturuli palitra”, “Chveni mtserloba”, “Literatura”, “Arili”, “Akhali saunje”. He has long experience in teaching Georgian language and literature.

Gia Arganashvili worked on the literary archives of Guram Rcheulishvili, Erlom Akhvlediani and Vakhtang Gamrekeli; he was editor of 4th volume of the five-volume publication of Guram Rcheulishvili’s works.
Currently he is working on the monograph “The Life and Creative Work of Erlom Akhvlediani”.

At the State Folklore Centre First Sunday of every month is the day for meeting with renowned people. The theme of meeting is selected according to the guest’s profession.
The project aims to elevate national consciousness of the society, assist young generation in self-identification, increase their involvement in public processes.
