On 18 February exhibition “Traditional Old Clothes” will open at the Exhibition Hall of the State Folklore Centre.
Georgian traditional clothes, despite having much common with the all-Caucasian, are peculiar, exceptional and adjusted to diverse environment.
The oldest examples of Georgian traditional garments have survived best in the Mountainous regions of the country. Throughout the Caucasus there is no equal to Khevsuretian talavari, rich in original embroidery, colour combinations, ornaments and technique of decoration with adornments.
Among the exhibits will be: women’s and men’s clothes, headdresses, head decorations, carpets from various regions, photos, Georgian dolls and those of other ethnicities.
The clothes exhibited as well as those on the photos are centuries old and the State Folklore Centre collected them from families and private collections.
