Exhibition Hall of the State Folklore Centre will host the exhibition of works (paintings, icons, cloisonné enamel, felt, fashion design, wood carving) made by the pupils and students of St. Tamar the Pious Boarding School (director Deacon Mirian Samkharadze).
The boarding school was founded in 2009 – with the blessing of Ilia II – Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Apkhazeti and with the support of the Georgian government.
Currently, at school there are about 500 pupils and about 100 students from Tbilisi, Mountainous Achara, Hereti and different parts of Georgia. This is the only school in Georgia where Christian and Muslim Georgians, united by the love to their homeland and each other, live side by side and study music and Georgian traditional art.
The students of Music and Applied Arts Department worthily continue their ancestors’ traditions, take active part in educational-creative Conferences and Olympiads, contests in various school subjects, meet with renowned scholars, men of art and sport, and ecclesiastical figures. The Exhibition will be accompanied by the performance of the school’s female and male folk ensembles and a folk instrument orchestra.
The Exhibition opens on 22 March at 19:00
Closes on 28 March.
