Giorgi Donadze – executive director
Was born in 1978; finished School #54 (Tbilisi, 1996); studied choir conducting at Meliton Balanchivadze Music School #3 (1995-1999); completed Bachelor and Master studies in conducting academic choir at Tbilisi State Conservatoire (1999-2009); at various times was: a teacher at Zurab Anjaparidze Tbilisi Music School #28 (1997-2000); a director of Tbilisi Holy Trinity Cathedral Church Choir (2000); a lecturer at Giorgi Mtatsmindeli Tbilisi Educational University (2006); director of “Basiani” Fund of the Georgian Patriarchy for the revival and development of church chant and folk songs (2002); head of Project Direction of the Fund “Kartuli Galoba” (2012); founded and directed (until 2013) folk ensemble “Basiani” of the Georgian Patriarchy (in 2013 “Basiani” was conferred the status of State ensemble); Since 2014 has been executive director of the State Folklore Centre of Georgia.
Irakli Chelidze – Deputy Executive Director
Was born in 1979; finished School #1 in Ambrolauri (1996); graduated from the Department of Economics at I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University – Bachelor in finances and banking (2001); Bachelor in technology at State Institute of Agriculture (2005); at various times worked as a chemist at “Rachuli ghvino” LTD (2002-2005); engineer-technologist at “Rachuli ghvino” LTD (2002-2005); manager of planning at “Nike” LTD (2007-2009), senior specialist at the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia (2009-2012); since 2014 has been Deputy Executive Director at the State Folklore Centre of Georgia.
Giorgi Gabunia - Deputy Executive Director
Was born in 1986; finished Tbilisi school #106 (2002); graduated from the Department of Law of I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (2007); passed advocates’ qualification exams (2007); at various times worked at different advocatory bureaus (2007-2013); LEPL Bureau of Juridical Assistance (2013-2014); since 2014 has been Deputy Executive Director at the State Folklore Centre of Georgia.
Eter Tataraidze – Head of Oral Folklore Direction
Was born in 1956; finished school (1972) in the village of Zemo Alvani, Akhmeta District. In 1979, without examination, was enlisted a student at the Philology Department of I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, graduated with red diploma (1984).From 1984 worked at TSU Department of General Linguistics and Department of Folklore (1985-2006); leads the course of lectures on Georgian legend and demonology; has worked at the State Folklore Centre since 2004.
Nana Valishvili – Head of Folk Music Direction
Was born in 1961; graduated from the Department of Musicology-Composition of Tbilisi State Conservatoire (1986); scholarly interest: Georgian writers and folk music; folk-musical traditions of mountainous regions; traditional performance of Georgian folk music; has been a member of female folk ensemble “Mzetamze” since its inception (1986); founded male folk ensemble “Jvaruli” (2007) with the aim to revive traditional Mokhevian songs; has worked at the State Folklore Centre of Georgia since 1986.
